Identity

I have tried my level best to protect my anonymity on this blog for the last 5 years.

But now I wonder.

I wonder whether I should continue to be anonymous or should I be the person I am in real life.

Do my readers need to know who I am?

Would it matter in any which way?

Has Ram Pyaari lived long enough? Should the real me take her place?

What would be the pluses of being myself?

And more importantly what would be the minuses?

It does not seem fair. I am NOT RP. That is not me. We are the same person but I am not RP.

As you can see I am thinking about not remaing anonymous on this blog. My Mother thinks I should disclose my real identity on the blog but I am divided. The comfort of anonymity is wonderful. Part of me does not want to let it go. I cannot decide but it is something I have been thinking about for sometime now!

Let me know what you think.

Love
RP

I had changed from anonymous to my real self a couple of years back, so i support the idea. I think people connect better with 'real' bloggers. That said, i also understand the need and pros of being anonymous. Being anonymous makes it easy to write your mind, specially the 'rant posts'. But i guess, your friends and family already know about your blog, so it doesn't help much.
I say , you go real now :)

What makes you think you are anonyous?

You have disclosed your name often, your college, your snaps, your spouse, the cities you have lived in !!

well, RP, u are not really anonymous to those who have followed you over the years. people have connected with u on fb/orkut. me too. but i think it would be nice to continue blogging as RP. it would give that mystery-blogger feel to the ones who happen to drop by later too..

hmm.. agree with what anon and amyth have said above..

if going by your real name helps you express yourself better, then you should go for it. otherwise, taken in itself, there's nothing amiss in blogging anonymously.
